What is God Like?

Psalm 83:

v. 1: Sometimes, God can seem to us as though He is standing back

v, 9: God destroys those who plot to harm His beloved people; He identifies with them as if they are Himself

v. 16: God punishes evil, ultimately, so that there will be a turning towards life; He wants to redeem sinners

Psalm 85:

v. 1: God is forgiving; He restores the fortunes of those who repent

v. 7: God is motivated by His unfailing love; He does not cease to love even when sin separates His people from Him and angers Him

v. 8: God's promised peace is conditional; His people must not turn to idolatry

v. 10-13: God is aligned with love, faithfulness, justice, prosperity, and peace

Psalm 86:

v. 5: God is forgiving and good, and He has abundant love for those who trust Him with their troubles

v. 7: He answers the distress call of those who are faithful to Him.

v. 10: He is the only God, and He does marvelous deeds. He is worthy of every nation's worship

v. 15: He is compassionate, loving, faithful, slow to anger, and gracious

v. 16-17: He is merciful, helpful, and comforting
